Each POINTER® van is configured around the mission it will serve. The features below run across the lineup: the POINTER® SWAT/APC van, the Tactical Incognito van, and the Mobile Command van, with builds set to the ordering agency's specification. When a requirement falls outside the standard catalog, we engineer it into the vehicle during the armoring conversion.
Seats up to 10 crew on bench or individual layouts, with tactical MOLLE racks, lockable gun and tool storage, and MIL-SPEC tie-downs that hold equipment through hard driving. Privacy curtains close off the crew area, heavy-duty vinyl flooring withstands boots and gear, and an interior fold-down ladder, rear air-conditioning unit, and first-aid and fire-extinguisher mounts complete the cabin.
Includes a 360-degree monitoring system with DVR, a night-vision front camera, and side cameras feeding in-cabin monitors, plus a PA and multi-siren system with two-way intercom for communication outside the vehicle. A server and network cabinet houses radios and mission electronics, and a power inverter with USB outlets keeps the crew stations powered through extended operations.
The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with 310 hp on the Ford Transit and the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter carry the armored weight. The suspension is reinforced to distribute the added load, the brakes are upgraded to maintain stopping distances, and each configuration is proven in dynamic testing, including slalom and moose tests. Run-flat inserts keep the van moving on damaged tires.
A heavy-duty ram bumper and recovery winch handle obstacles and disabled vehicles; a roof hatch with over-watch platform gives teams an elevated position, and mesh screens shield the glazing from thrown objects. Golight remote spotlights, IR illumination for night work, and hidden LED grill lights cover the lighting package, with detachable exterior ladders for roof access.
